Artroplastía total de rodilla y enfermedad de Parkinson: caso clínico y revisión de la literatura / Total knee arthroplasty and Parkinson´s disease: case report and literature review

We present the case of a 61 year old woman in treatment for severe Parkinson´s disease, with chronic knee pain that limits her daily activities. She has an important valgus deformity and flexion contracture of 20º. X-rays showed a Tricompartimental knee Osteoarthritis and therefore she underwent a total knee arthroplasty (TKA). A review of the literature offered just three studies regarding Parkinson´s Disease patients who received TKAs. Conclusions are contradicting. In general the results of a TKA in these groups of patients depend on the stage of the disease during the surgery and the progression of the disease afterwards. The most important report is the one of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, where they conclude that the results of TKA in Parkinson‘s disease patients are in general satisfactory and that the joint pathology usually can be treated with a primary TKA.

Se presenta el caso clínico de una paciente de 61 años con antecedente de Enfermedad de Parkinson en etapa avanzada y en tratamiento regular, consulta por gonalgia izquierda progresiva, de larga data e invalidante; al momento de la evaluación mostraba una deformidad en valgo severa y déficit de flexión de 20º; las imágenes demuestran una Artrosis tricompartimental severa. Se resolvió mediante una artroplastía total de rodilla (ATR). Se realizó la revisión de la bibliografía encontrándose sólo tres series publicadas de pacientes con enfermedad de Parkinson que requirieron una de ATR con resultados disímiles. En general el resultado de una ATR en estos pacientes depende de la etapa de la enfermedad en la que se realice la ATR y la progresión que presenta la enfermedad posteriormente.La serie más importante corresponde a la de la Clínica Mayo de Rochester Mn, de ésta se deduce que los resultados de la ATR en enfermedad de Parkinson entrega resultados satisfactorios y en general se puede resolver la patología articular con una prótesis primaria.

Osteoma osteoide del calcáneo: caso clínico / Osteoid osteoma of the calcaneus: a case report

We report the case of a young deportist women with chronic foot and ankle pain, whose diagnosis was Osteoid Osteoma of the Calcaneus. We searched on the literature and performed a review of the epidemiology, clinical presentation, differential diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of this tumor.

Reportamos el caso de una mujer joven deportista con dolor crónico de pie y tobillo, cuyo diagnóstico fue Osteoma Osteoide del Calcáneo. Buscamos en la literatura e hicimos una revisión de la epidemiología, clínica, diagnóstico diferencial, estudio y tratamiento de este tumor.
